Description
Photograph caption dated January 2, 1947 reads, "Standing at a window of his hotel room, John H. Himes, 73, looks over the scene of the explosion at the corner of Grand Avenue and Ninth Street today. Although he was many yards from the scene, Himes was the only person injured in the blast when flying glass cut his wrist as he was shaving in his hotel room."
