The building at center with tower was formerly the Vista del Arroyo Hotel but was in use as the McCornack General Hospital at the time this photograph was made, and later became the Richard H. Chambers United States Court of Appeals courthouse. Title devised by cataloger. Date transcribed from note on envelope in which negative was received: "Taken May 2- 48. Colorado St. Bridge, McCornack Hosp." This building was originally a hotel called La Vista del Arroyo and was added to over the years. In 1943, the U.S. War Department acquired the hotel complex, converting its use to a hospital and offices for the U.S. Army. Originally known as the Pasadena Area Station Hospital, it was later renamed as McCornack General Hospital. In 1949, the hospital was deactivated. (militarymuseum.org)
