Note: Gleicher Studiohintergrund mit gemaltem Büchergestell wie bei QL-30.006.0027, QL-30.006.0029 und QC-30.033.0003. Ursprünglicher Trägerkarton mit Passepartout überklebt und neu beschriftet. (BFN 12.1998). - Cf. "Zuwachs des Basler Missions-Museums", Bd.1, S.5.
Note translation: The same studio background with the painted bookshelf appears in QL-30.006.0027, QL-30.006.0029 und QC-30.033.0003 The original mount has been covered by a new mount with a new caption. (BFN 12.1998). - Cf. accessions list of the Basel Mission museum, vol.1,p.5. - This photograph and its caption deserves careful attention, not least read together with the history of the Basel Mission Press in Mangalore. The interpretation of the tasks listed is not easy, however. I suspect that "Putzer" is more than merely "cleaner", the usual translation one would offer today. These designated "Malajal." are presumably working in the Malayalam language (PJ 06.2001).
