Description
Survival school students Brian Schwarz (left) and Ron Venn (right) learn hand-to-hand combat and silent kill techniques as demonstrated by the instructor Harry Claflin (center). The 160-acre camp, better known as the Starlight Training Center in Liberal, Missouri, was owned by Claflin, a former U.S. Marine in Vietnam. The students are U.S. civilians with different backgrounds and professions who paid money in exchange for survivalist training. Claflin also spent time studying the tactics, troop proficiency, and military effectiveness of foreign countries like those in Central America where he trained Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, and Salvadoran special forces.
