Description
V1p373a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 373. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written under photo: "Civilians forced by military authorities to work cleaning public streets, parks and squares. Note the soldier standing guard over the workers who are employed in digging drains in Jefferson Square May 20th 1906." The soldier is armed with rifle and bayonet. A few tents can be seen in the park. The dome of City Hall is visible in the distance.
