Description
Annual Mitchell Luncheon After the success of the first Mitchell Automobile Hill Climb and Run to the Hotel Del Monte in 1907, the company made it an annual event. The Hill Climb up Alum Rock Avenue, run on July 3, ended at the Junction House. Prizes were awarded to the first-place touring car and the first-place runabout (2-seater). The run to Monterey began in San Jose early the morning of July 4th to arrive at the Hotel Del Monte in time for a sumptuous lunch. Thirty San José drivers and their families participated, in addition to more than 350 other automobilists from around the state. A framed copy print of this image is located in 17.M.1.3
