Description
Photograph of an exterior view of "The Bottle House" a house made of bottles in Rhyolite, Nevada, ca.1925. The house, built in 1905 and said to have nearly 25,000 bottles that comprise its side walls, stands at the center of the image. Its walls look as though they are made of thousands of tiny circles, showing the bottoms of the bottles. The house also sports a small porch, shingled roof, and brick chimney. A sign posted in the dusty, barren ground out front reads "The Bottle House / Preserved as a Historical Relic by the Beatty Improvement Association / Restored January 1925 by the Famous Players-Lasky Corp. / Paramount Pictures. / Do Not Molest.". Mountains are visible in the background.
