Photograph of the ruins of the vaults in the Fireman's Fund Building in San Francisco following the earthquake and fire, 1906. The remains of the tall brick building are at center. The back and side walls are still partially standing, but most of the front wall is missing. The floor of the building is covered with rubble. Several tall columns can be seen in the middle of the building. In the background at left, three men examine a hole in the wall. Two of the men are wearing police uniforms. There were sixty-five vaults in the structure.
