Description
Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1899-1989.
John Wooden, on the sideline with his trademark rolled-up program. His coaching milestones were considerable--including seven consecutive NCAA titles, a 149-2 record at Pauley Pavilion, and four 30-0 seasons--but he is revered as the "Wizard of Westwood" for his teaching skills. Anchored by such traits as "industriousness" and "enthusiasm," his home-spun Pyramid of Success articulated his fundamentals-are-best-philosophy. His highest salary? A whopping $35,000.
