Description
Photograph of aerial view of flood in Azusa, showing damage of San Gabriel Railroad Bridge over a river, California, 1938. In the background at center, a long railroad bridge consisting of two sets of tracks can be seen extending from left to right. The bridge crosses a large river flowing from the mid-right to the bottom-left of the image. Arched supports beneath the bridge can be seen holding sections of it above the water. Near the left bank of the river, a section of four arches has collapsed causing the bridge to sink to the water's level. In the extreme background, lines of shrubs and vegetation can be seen. Photoprint reads: "This photograph is loaned to you. Please return to: Illustrator. L.A. City Planning Dept. Rm.361 F City Hall, Los Angeles, California". Compares to CHS-41469.
