Dr. Luther Burbank can be seen at left wearing a three-piece suit and hat. His hands are clasped on his lap, while his left leg is tucked under his right. He is looking at George Wharton James, who is seated at right. James can be seen wearing a three-piece suit and tie, as well as a hat. He has a long beard and mustache, and holds a pair of glasses in his hands in his lap. His legs are crossed at the ankles. The men can be seen seated between two wooden pillars, while what appears to be a door can be seen in the background. James was originally misidentified as Professor Davies.
