Photograph of the San Francisco Fire Department on parade at Temple Street and Grand Avenue, San Francisco (Los Angeles?), 1860-1910. A line of fire fighters dressed in their uniforms is pictured at center, arranged into five files where each file appears to unified by a cord that all of its members are holding to their right side. In the background, an offshoot of these firemen can be seen in the form of a brass band. Pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages can be seen in the background, on the street just in front of the Rivers Brothers Grocers building which boasts a sign that reads "Choice Fruits and Vegetables".
