Photograph article dated July 2, 1965 partially reads, "California has been invaded by 15 friendly Italians - the crew of the Corsaro II. Gaelic charm is the only ammunition aboard the 68-foot racing yacht entered in the July Fourth Trans-Pacific Race to Honolulu. It's lucky for the other 55 contestants that LADIES AREN'T ACTING AS OFFICIALS. If they were and they'd met the handsome Italians, there would be little doubt who the ladies would be cheering on during the long sea race. The young, bearded commanding officer, Lt. Giovanni Iannucci, and his equally attractive bearded executive officer, Lt. Giancarlo Rutteri, were in spanking white uniforms as they supervised the work of getting the Corsaro II ready for the big race. The deep-hulled ship was high out of the water on the floating dry dock at the U.S. Naval station in Long Beach." Pictured is Executive Officer, Lt.
