Description
"Carrying rice + money to faminites under soldier escort -- note trackers on shore towing at the rope end -- see soldiers with guns over embankment -- ten minutes some 70 or more robbers attacked, killing one boat captain -- no other damage, as the soldiers failed to run -- Feeding man at the point of the bayonet is not very heroic. Feb 21, 1912 -- D. S. D. I don't think it any fun." Two Chinese boats are on the water and keeping close to shore. A military escort stands near the water to keep watch.
