Shows James W. Marshall standing in front of mill at Coloma. 2012-2196. Have 2 copies. "Marshall standing in front of Sutter's Mill 1848 or spring of 1849. Copy of daguerreotype by Watkins. Original formerly in possession of Mrs. George Hearst" -- handwritten on verso of copy 2. Copy 2 copied by William Lugg from a negative loaned by Phil B. Bekeart. Copy 1 gift of C. B. Turrill. Also have negatives: no. 3715 (8 x 10 in. and 4 x 5 in.); and, GL3590 (3 1/2 x 5 in., McCurry).
