Photograph caption dated December 6, 1987 reads, "Protesters gather at Sen. Pete Wilson's Los Angeles office to protest his support of the Helms Amendment cutting off federal funds to AIDS service groups. The protesters, associated with the local chapter of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, staged a sit-down protest and were arrested for trespassing. Bail was set at $500 for each misdemeanor. Their names were not released." Note: Photographer identified the man reading names of deceased persons as John Strauss.
