Description
EPH gives an overview of current knowledge about nebulae. He describes the different forms/types using his classification system, and alludes to the forms possibly relating to the nebulae's evolution. He shows how they can be understood to be equally luminous, which allows for the assumption that fainter nebulae are further away, and brighter are closer. He explains a number of theories as to what the nebulae are made of. Also, he discuses how fast they are moving away from each other and how the velocity of their own rotations can help determine their masses. He concludes that the evidence points to the assumption that the nebulae are stellar systems. Note in the hand of Grace (Burke) Hubble: "Possibly notes for Silliman Lectures."
