She started her career as a dancer and made her film debut in 1937 in an appearance in "Meet The Boyfriend." She appeared in a few more films and had high-profile relationships with boxer Jack Doyle and socialite Tommy Manville. Troy became ill with tuberculosis and died on November 29, 1949. Photograph caption dated October 24, 1938, reads "While Elinor Troy, the 'one-punch' showgirl, announced in New York that she was asked to be made his legal guardian, Jack Doyle, the Irish thrush who learned to croon lullabies by kissing the boxing ring canvas, today went into secret session with the immigration inspector in Los Angeles. It was said he might 'throw in the sponge' and leave the country without a deportation order. The government says his entrance papers weren't quite in order." The actress is seated in a stuffed chair, dressed in a slip, on the telephone.
