Photograph caption dated June 9, 1965 reads, "Mira Slovak, center, third-place winner in the Memorial Day weekend Los Angeles National Air Races in Lancaster, was guest speaker at recent meeting of the Icarian Flying Club in North Hollywood. With him are R. L. Stimpson, of Glendale, club president, and Lou Laslow, program chairman. Slovak, a former Czech airline pilot, escaped from the Iron Curtain country in 1951 when he hijacked his plane and flew to West Germany." Note: The Icarian Flying Club is a San Fernando Valley club.
