Image of a full-length portrait of minstrel show performer Carroll Johnson standing in formal dress in a theater lobby with a sign for his performance and four portraits of blackface minstrel characters with three captioned "Uncle Jeff," Pretty Little Kate," and "Man Wreck Oh" hanging on the wall behind him.
Probable date range based on general history of show; McNish, Johnson and Slavin's Minstrels operated from 1885 until 1888 (Rice, Monarchs of Minstrelsy, page 231). "The Courier / Lith. Co. Buffalo, N.Y."--text, bottom left. "Respectfully yours / Carroll Johnson"--text, continuation of title, lower left of image.
