Description
Photograph of a painting by Nathalde Sidel depicting the Madonna and Child, [s.d.]. A woman and infant boy are pictured looking directly at the viewer. The woman is clothed in a darker dress on her lower half, while her head and shoulders are draped in a lightly-colored material that suggests translucence. The child sits to the left on her right thigh, its right arm and hand extended in some type of genuflection. It is loosely swaddled in a cloth that is indeed diaphanous. Haloes are pictured behind both figures' heads. Details in the background emerge from the dark, chiaroscuro background to suggest wooden planks.
