Serial No. 10000, painted military green. According to the 1961 Varian catalog, "the VA-87B and VA-87C are four-cavity pulse amplifier klystrons for coherent radar and linear accelerator service. The simple rugged structure makes a reliable amplifier with high gain and low phase distortion. The VA-87 mounts in a self-centering magnet structure with no adjustments required."
