Photograph caption dated January 19, 1948 reads, "He's Campaigner - This huge story book balloon figure (Panda) was one of the features of yesterday's March of Dimes parade on Wilshire boulevard. For nearly four miles, the boulevard was lined by approximately one million spectators. March was enlivened by stirring band music, highstepping drum majorettes and prancing horses. The March of Dimes campaign seeks to bring renewed hope for children crippled by polio. Honored guests were 50 patients of Children's and Orthopaedic hospitals."
