Description
Photograph of a scientist checking a telescope element beneath the Griffith Park Observatory dome, ca.1930-1950. In the center of the image, a scientist wearing a tie and smock leans over to check a part of the giant telescope housed in the dome. The astronomical apparatus is slanted at a what appears to be approximately a forty-five degree angle so that it appears triangular from the vantage point of the camera. The interior walls of the dome are supported by beams curved to fit the shape of the dome. Above the scientist, the rectangular window of the dome lets in the light from outside.
