Description
"The structure that is the current Old Fair Oaks Bridge (shown here, 1970s) is an excellent example of bridge construction and technology advancement in the mid-to-late 19th century. The Fair Oaks Bridge, a Pennsylvania Petit through Pratt truss that extends nearly 700 feet across a wide bend in the American River, is one of the more extraordinary truss bridges in California. The Western Bridge and Construction Company of Omaha completed the double truss bridge in 1907. It still survives and services the community today."
