Description
Shown is a program for contralto singer Marian Anderson when she performed at the Memorial Auditorium on March 29, 1960. The set list included in the program shows that she performed musical acts ranging from classical to folk and spiritual. This performance was five years before the accomplished singer retired. Among her many accomplishments were becoming the recipient of a Spingarn Medal of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the first African American to receive the Bok Award from the city of Philadelphia, her hometown. She also gained notoriety and praise through her work as an official delegate to the United Nations.
