Photo shows the traffic jam that resulted on the incompleted Hollywood Freeway after seven cars and a truck, loaded with 23 tons of gravel, piled up in a chain-reaction. Many motorists were late for work. Police credited the truck driver with averting a "catastrophe" because he swerved into an embankment rather than plow into other cars.
