Description

In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 439 bottom.
This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text underneath left side of photo: "Bush & Montgomery Sts. see top picture above," this image being identical to the photo at the top of page 439. Text beginning on the bottom right of the photo and running off the edge: "Montgomery St. Bush to Pine. Russ House-destroyed by the fire of 1906. The tall building on the Extreme right showing top only is the I.O.O.F. Hall California and Montgomery St. afterward Clunie Building." This image of the Russ House is the same as the one at the top of page 436. The other two photos are of the Russ Building, a multi-story Art Deco skyscraper that was built on this site. One shows the building from the northeast (left), the other (right) from the west showing downtown and the bay beyond.
These four photos are collaged together interspersed with cloud-like graphics and bearing the credit "Gabriel Moulin Studios." It is likely that this was put together to celebrate the opening of the Russ Building in 1927.
