Photograph caption dated March 31, 1955 reads, "An applicance [sic] and catalog sales store to serve the West Valley area has been opened by Sears Roebuck and Co. at 18314 Sherman Way, Reseda, under the management of John E. Hawkins and a part of the Sears Valley Plaza store. Reseda resident manager is Gordon W. Batz. Left to right at the opening are K. R. Barton, Los Angeles group manager, and Hawkins and Batz."
