A large crowd claps and cheers during a rally where presidential candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara of the National Unity Front gives a speech in March 1982. Many in the crowd are holding banners and posters in support of the candidates. In the foreground, Guevara stands and observes the crowd. Seated beside Guevara is his running mate Ramiro Ponce Monroy. On March 8, 1982 he won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt. Una multitud aplaude y anima durante un mitin de campaña donde el candidato presidencial del Frente de Unidad Nacional Ángel Aníbal Guevara da un disurso en marzo de 1982.
