Description
Photograph of San Francisco earthquake damage, looking up Powell Street at the remains of the Mark Hopkins Institute of Art in the foreground and the new Fairmount Hotel at the top of Nob Hill, 1906. Tracks stripe the dusty road which extends up the hill from the left foreground to the right distance. Wooden posts stand in a sea of rubble where the Mark Hopkins Institute of Art stood in the foreground. Burn marks spot the large, lightly-colored Fairmount Hotel at the top of the hill at center. Copyrighted and published by J.D. Cardinell, Oakland, Calif, 1906.
