Due to its proximity to several studios over the years, including Columbia Pictures, Republic Studios, Christie Film Company, Warner Bros., Sunset-Gower Studios, and CBS' Columbia Square radio and television facility, Columbia Drug Co. and Sunset-Gower News were popular among studio workers. The drugstore was demolished in the 1980s and replaced with another structure.
Customers browse titles at Sunset-Gower News directly outside Columbia Drug Co., 6098 W. Sunset Boulevard at Gower Street (center), in January 1977.
