Armas Clifford "Mike" Markkula, Jr. was born in Los Angeles on February 11, 1942. Markkula made millions on stock options he acquired as a marketing manager for Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel, and retired at age 32. He was an early investor and second CEO of Apple Computer, Inc., providing early critical funding and managerial support. He made an investment in Apple worth $250,000 and in exchange took 30% of the company. He retired from Apple in 1997. Photograph caption dated June 17, 1961 reads "Mike Markkula, 19, 606 N.
