Description
Shows parade of Turn-Verein group, "Elites Turn-Fest", on J Street, 700 block, looking east. Led by band including bandleader in shako hat. Group met in Sacramento on June 21-23, 1885. Buildings along sides include Pacific Market, C.E. Adams, McMorry's Drug Store Also have negative: no. 19,026. 2010-5232. Sacramento Union. Turn Verein (or Turner movement) was German society interested in athletics, especially gymnastics. Spread to United States with newly arrived German immigrants.
