Photograph was edited for publication purposes A young man can be seen standing curbside, looking outward, trying to spot his bus. What he may not be aware of is that some 900 mechanics of the Metropolitan Transit Authority walked off the job at 12:01 a.m. today, despite a Los Angeles Superior Court restraining order forbidding a strike. Approximately 1,432 buses and streetcars sat idle in caryards surrounded by pickets. Photograph dated November 16, 1960.
