Description
Crowded finish line for a bicycle race in a city street. Bicycle racers can be seen approaching from the left as throngs of people look on from the sides of the roads. Some people have scrambled up utility poles to get a better view of the action. Horse-drawn carriages are parked in the lower left of the frame, with men and women standing up in their seats to see over the crowds. Bicycles can be seen leaning up against the fence in the background, with several horse carts also parked in the open field. Residential houses fill the back drop. At least one member of the crowd is African-American, in the center of the crowd on the left. It is not clear where this was taken; there is no evidence that it is a San Jose photo. It may have been taken closer to Oakland, in the East Bay.
