Description
Salvadoran Army soldiers and civilians (men, women and children) gather in Berlín. The soldiers are wearing a camouflage uniform and are resting on the ground laying on their backpacks while the civilians are standing around them. Some of the soldiers are wearing helmets, others are wearing hats, and some are wearing none. Three soldiers are seen holding M16 assault rifles of U.S. origin. Guerrillas occupied the town for four days before the Salvadoran military attacked the town with rockets launched from airplanes. Bishop Arturo Rivera y Damas, bishop of San Salvador, denounced the assault a few days after and announced that the destruction left more than 300 people (mostly civilians, and few Salvadoran soldiers and rebels) dead during that week of February.
