Description
The creation of Santa Ana's "River of Tears" quilt - The River of Tears (Rio de Lagrimas) quilt was created in 1995 by Santa Ana families who were affected by firearm violence. It was created to complement a series of vigils held at homicide sites around the city. The project was coordinated by Los Amigos of Santa Ana as part of their mission to prevent violence in their community. The quilt is over 45 feet long and 4 feet wide. It contains 75 squares of fabric, each representing a victim of Santa Ana gun victim. Recorded August 13, 2011 at Laguna Hills Technology Branch Library.
