Photographic portrait of railroad workmen and politicians at the driving of the last spike at Promontory, Utah, May 10, 1869. Workmen pose on and around two steam engines arranged front to front. One man who hangs off of the front of the left engine holds several bottles, one who hangs off of the right seems to hold a frying pan. Five men in suits sit along the top of the left engine. The rest of the crowd is either clinging to the front or sides of the trains or gathered in front. Several individuals can be seen in the foreground. Image is a copy of a published photo.
