Description
The warrior Sakanoue no Tamuramaro (758-811) gained fame for his conquests of the Ainu or Emishi peoples in the northern part of the main island of Honshu. He was also asked to put down rebels and bandits lurking in the mi area near the capital, which reportedly he did with the aid of Kanzeon, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, who sent a rain of arrows.
