Description
Episode 155 of the California Academy of Sciences' television program Science in Action features guest scientist Dr. Robert C. Stebbins, of UC Berkeley. Stebbins, the the preeminent expert on western North American reptiles and amphibians, speaks about garter snakes and other reptiles on the California Threatened Species list. This episode contains rare early footage of Stebbins, who recently passed away, and was best known for writing and illustrating A Field Guide to Western Reptiles and Amphibians (https://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2013/09/27/berkeley-reptile-and-amphibian-expert-robert-stebbins-dies-at-98/).
