Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 28, 1962 partially reads, "The principal of Winnetka Elementary School today voiced optimism that steps will soon be taken to correct conditions that may have contributed to the accidental death of a 9-year-old student...Guy Heagney, 20234 Roscoe Blvd., Friday as he walked within a block of the school. The boy was walking on the west side of Winnetka just south of Lanark St. (a stretch without sidewalks) when he stumbled and fell into the street in front of a truck. He was dead on arrival at Northridge Receiving Hospital. Nevius said there is concern for students along Winnetka Ave., because three schools (Sutter Junior High, Hughes Junior High, and Winnetka Elementary) border the heavily traveled street....'The thing we are interested in is providing safety for students,' he said. 'We feel students deserve sidewalks.'"
