A group of Chinese boys show off their diplomas. This was the first graduating class of the Christian Herald Fukien [Fujian] Industrial Homes. The diplomas certified their successful completion of the Fukien [Fujian] Uniform Examination for Lower Primary. Emily Susan Hartwell was an American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions missionary stationed in Foochow, Fukien from 1884.
