Description
This is side A of the fifth tape from the annual Drucker Symposium of 1987. This recording is from day two of the conference, on April 30, 1987. Sam Craig is the moderator and Don Nicholson is the panelist. This is the Q&A segment. They cover topics such as debt, international markets, imperialism, manufacturing employment, the defining factors of industrial health of a country, and hospital administration. Drucker goes into detail about the deficit of the United States government, and he considers the biggest problem to be the high interest payments. He says it is the first time in the history of the world that the largest debtor owes in their own currency. He suggests a severe increase in inflation or a cease in interest payments, as the only two ways to reverse the deficit. Drucker also explains that Lyndon B. Johnson was the first President to try to focus on both domestic policy and foreign affairs, which is what led to the budget getting out of control.
