V1p378a In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 378 top. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written to left of photo: "Orpheum Theatre O'Farrell Street 1909." View is from the north side of O'Farrell between Powell and Stockton looking east. The Orpheum, with its rounded cornice, is seen on the south side of the street. Next door to it is the six-story Orpheum Annex Hotel, furnished with carpets, furniture, rugs, and draperies by D.N.& E. Walter & Co. at Sacramento and Van Ness, as a sign indicates. The Phelan Building is in the distance at the corner of Market and O'Farrell. Numerous carriages, carts and autos can be seen as well as the tracks of the California Street Cable Railroad's O'Farrell, Jones and Hyde line.
