Photograph dated October 3, 1932 shows from left to right: Frank Capra, Chairman of the Arbitration Agreement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; James Cagney, Darryl Zanuck and J. L. Warner, executives of Warner Brothers-First National. James Cagney had walked out on Warner Bros. for nearly six months after a contract dispute for more money with the studio's executives, Darryl Zanuck and Jack Warner. Frank Capra, then the Chairman of the Arbitration Agreement Committee helped end the holdout by brokering a deal in which Cagney remained under the terms of his old contract but paid a higher salary of $1750 a week. A luncheon at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California was offered to Cagney to show that all involved were pleased at the settlement and his return to work.
