Description
Photograph of the Painter Hotel in Pasadena, looking east, ca.1889. The 3 story building is situated on a corner. A grassy yard planted with trees and shrubs surrounds the building. Several people are on the lawn and standing near stairs leading to the covered porch running around the building. A horse-drawn wagon sits in the dirt street in front of the hotel. Part of a streetcar is visible in the lower left corner. Smaller houses (bungalows?) are partially visible behind the hotel. A few other houses and a church are visible in the background. Mountains rise in the distance. The hotel burned down around 1913 or 1914.
