Description: This is the new appearance of Venice, showing a skyline of oil derricks encroaching on one of the last canals of yesteryear. Old bridges have been repaired. The boarded canal sidings are for the most part rotting away. A boat is a novelty. Oil streaks mark the surface of the water. Photo dated: January 3, 1953.
