The SCI-Arc graduate studies annex building on Molino Street looks almost empty, except for a few folding chairs, a paint can, and several boards leaning against a brick wall. Architect/planner Ray Kappe founded SCI-Arc, or the Southern California Institute of Architecture, in 1972. It started off in a leased industrial Santa Monica building. In 2000, it moved into a 1/4-mile long historic freight depot building in Downtown L.A., located at 960 E. 3rd Street. Photograph dated: 2001.
