Description
An impressively quiet, serious yet affable young man with a purpose in life, that's 18-year-old Chuck Rombeau, the No. 1 tennis player at Valley College where it begins to look as though coach Mark Mathews may have come up with the finest court team ever produced by the Monarchs.Rombeau is modest about his talents, slightly averse to talking about his accomplishments which include two city high school singles championships, the 1958 United States hard court title, and a second in the National Clay Courts event when he was under 15 years of age." Photograph dated March 24, 1961. See images 00159585 through 00159588 for all photos in this series.
